Some of the more common ways to lose weight aren't that effective. Either they demand the sort of willpower and commitment that most of use simply don't have, or they provide only short term solutions that vanish as soon as you stop. Worse, a few of them are even dangerous if you aren't careful.

In particular, beware of crash diets, fad diets, and indeed any diet that isn't founded on simply eating healthily. Sure, you might see some weight loss in a short time, but most of them will leave you hungry because you are starving your body of nutrients and calories. Not surprisingly, it will happen that your lost weight comes back straight after such radical weight loss programs. This is also known as boomerang or yo-yo dieting. Worse, some of these ways to lose weight simply don't provide the balanced nutrition that your body urgenstly needs.

Avoid diving into too much exercise, too. You aren't going to go from never running to running a marathon in a week. You aren't going to pump mountains of iron or keep up with the training regime of your hyper-fit friend or fitness instructor. Choose ways to lose weight that won't injure you or make you want to give up after five minutes.

Here is what you can do:

Instead, simply take a good, long look at what you eat. Just see how many snacks do you eat during the day? How much food do you pile onto your plate at each meal? Sometimes, even small reductions can have a big impact on your figure.

Also consider your attitudes to what you eat. One of the more effective ways to lose weight is simply to remember that you don't have to finish everything on your plate. Many of us were brought up to consider that wasteful, but it isn't. It's paying attention to what your body is saying and acting on it. When you feel that you've eaten enough, don't take one mouthful more.

It might not come as a surprise, but really consider the many ways of incorporating more physical activity into your day. Take stairs instead of the elevator. Can you walk to work? Can you find time for a short walk at some point in the day? Take up an active hobby like gardening or simply build some easy exercises into your daily routine. All of these are very simple but effective ways to lose weight.

Anyone know of a great trick to losing weight fast, and keeping it off?
I eat very healthy, exercise, go to yoga classes, and I am very happy with the 7 pounds I have lost so far. Do you know of a good trick (other than diet pills and crash diets) to lose weight fast? I am NOT anorexic. I weigh over 170 pounds and I am 5'9"... I believe I need to ose 10 more lbs for my age and height... Anything except a crash diet and pills will do. Thanks again in advance!!! I appreciate it a lot :)

i dont want any answers like crash diets are bad for you wont keep the weight off blah blah blah. if u want to answer like that then just dont. i will be choosing best answer but to none that has anything other than a relevant answer to the question. sorry to be so blunt but ive heard it all before. im not reli rude i just want helpful answers right so, i have gained a lot of fat over easter and i reli feel like i want to lose about a stone. it doesnt need to be reli quick but needs to be fast enough so i can notice a change or il lose motivation to continue any plan im following. ideally i want a crash diet to get to my target weight and then concentrate on proper diet to maintain that weight. i cant eat any fruit or vegetables unfortunately so i am restricted on most diets. i go to the gym for an hour at a time three times a week. i want a crash diet to lose weight fast. any other tips or advice are welcome.

im really not motivated any more .... plz help im desperate?
ok well i have a 12 month membership at a gym but i really cant be stuffed to go .... its crazy and also i just really cant be stuffed actually eating healthy .... its just im not motivated ... ive tried soo many crash diets to lose weight fast but its really hard .... i want my diet to be do able ..... i dont know .... i think i might go out today and buy some healthy foods and put them in my room cuse if my mum buys them then my brothers always eat them ... and i need to devise a food plan ... i like exercise but i just cant be stuffed getting up and getting dressed and going ... actually i kind of want to go know ..... hmmm but yea can anyone help ... i want to start TODAY and its 11am what should i do, i havent eaten yet, only just got up ......... anyone help get me motivated and get me some help and thnk u sooooooooooo much guyz ... i want to lose maybe 20 pounds but the think is u know how u lose a lot of weight first week ... can u guyz tell me how much i can lose 1st week cuse that might help in me getting started xxn0haxx im female 5'8 160lbs just to let u know might be some help
