For Healthy Weight Loss, Calories Aren't the Whole Story
When you hear the word "diet, " it probably evokes a number of images and emotions-most of them unpleasant. Maybe you imagine yourself living on a diet of nothing but salad, or never touching a piece of cake again. For most people, the word "diet" translates to eating fewer calories. But for safe, effective, and healthy weight loss, calories aren't the whole story.
In fact, if your diet plan is focused solely on a major reduction in your calorie intake, it probably won't be very successful. You'll work hard to limit what you eat, but you'll find that your weight is changing very little, if at all. That's because when you eat less, the body takes notice, and slows down your metabolism accordingly. The result is that you burn fewer calories, too-and if you're not using more calories than what you consume, you're not losing weight.
There's a sure-fire way to make sure that your weight loss efforts will pay off: focus on increasing the rate at which you burn calories before you reduce the rate at which you consume them. The more fuel you burn, the more energy you'll have, and the more weight you'll lose.
Of course, burning more calories is easier said than done. Most people will tell you that you need to spend a lot of time exercising, and I'm not going to say you shouldn't, but the truth is that for weight loss, calories can be burned in other ways.
A recently developed dieting technique called calorie cycling is demonstrating amazing results when applied correctly by dieters. Calorie cycling programs work by varying the number of calories you eat each day. Over the long run, the amount of food you're eating probably won't change much, but on a day to day basis, you'll eat more than usual on some days, and less on others. The body responds to big meals by increasing your metabolism, and it stays high on the days when you eat less-so in the long run, you burn a lot of calories on those days, and lose weight.
While I expect we'll see more soon, there's really only one program on the market so far which takes full advantage of the calorie cycling technique, and it's called FatLoss4Idiots. The program advertises that you can lose 9 pounds in 11 days, it can be tried risk-free, and many veterans of the program swear by the results they get. FatLoss4Idiots is worth a try by anyone who's serious about healthy weight loss without depravation.
