Many people do not understand what to eat to lose weight. They think that in order to lose weight they must take extreme measures to do so. Sadly, the only thing extreme measures do in most cases is cause the person to fail. The good news is that there are simple changes you can make in your diet that will lead to weight loss in a much healthier way. A person who loses weight by eating healthy instead of taking extreme measures will most likely keep that weight off longer than a person who loses weight through extremes.

We all know that what we put in our mouths directly affects our weight, and therefore our health. If we want to lose weight the healthy way, we have to learn to eat a sensible diet with a balance of food groups such as fat, protein and carbs.

For the same reason, you must eat a balanced diet that will fill your body with the vitamins and minerals it needs. It is unwise to cut out complete food groups from our diets. This type of dieting usually does not lead to prolonged weight loss and can actually hurt our health rather than help our bodies become healthier.

With the South Beach and Atkins trends in the past several years, many potential dieters are under the assumption that in order to lose weight, they must cut out all carbohydrates. In reality, it is the type of carbohydrate you eat that makes a difference. While simple carbohydrates such as sugar and white flour can spike the body's blood sugar levels and leave the dieter feeling lethargic, complex carbohydrates give our bodies its energy. Consuming whole grains is an excellent way to consume carbohydrates that benefit our bodies.

The same rules apply to fats. The truth about fat is that our bodies actually need it in order to survive. The key is eating good fats such as nuts, olive oil and flax seed instead of animal fats.

By doing simple things such as reading food labels before dec iding what to eat to lose weight can make a huge difference in the amount of calories a person eats in a day. Many foods have hidden calories in them that you may not even realize your are consuming them if you do not read the labels.

What to eat to lose weight is a question many of us have. There are foods that are healthier for us than others, and if eaten in moderation, can help us lose weight.

Same results from elliptical trainer and treadmill?
Hello! Well, I have both a treadmill and elliptical trainer. Also have an exercise bike and weights and stuff. I do indoor workouts cuz I live in a bad area. I used to just do the treadmill for up to 30mins at a jog around 5 days a week but I find endurance really, really hard and I feel like I don't have the best lung capacity and often find it hard to breathe (even while not exercising) It was raining the other day and risky to use a plugged in treadmill so I tried the elliptical trainer, it hurt my legs at first but now it's really comfortable and also great to watch a movie while exercising. I want to know if the elliptical will give you the same results as a treadmill? I'm not really in it to lose weight, I'm a healthy weight. Just to stay fit. I will still do the treadmill when it's winter probably (it's the middle of summer) but for now is the elliptical okay to stick by for fitness? Thanks xx

Do you think I have anorexia?
I'm pretty sure I'm anorexic. I'm 16 and ever since my 14th birthday I've hated my body. I was 5'5" and I weighed 132.5 and I cried and I got serious about losing weight and got down to like 115 and since then I've gained about half back and I am disgusted with my body. I skip meals all the time and I have tried and tried to make myself throw up, but my gag reflex just doesn't work. I've drank tons of salt water and showed an entire tooth brush down my throat multiple times, but I only just spit up. I look skinny, or at least people say I am (I have really small arms and legs and my legs are really strong) but I feel so fat and I am self conscience every time someone picks me up. I go through swigs of feeling disgusting and then after months of trying I'm like fk it and then I start to feel gross again. I don't know if its related, but I used to be kinda a sl*t but then I reconnected with God and I felt a lot better about my weight and cooled off, but I've started to lose touch with God(which I hate) and I feel disgusting again and I've because the "Cast sl*t" of the play I'm in and I just don't know what to do because everyone thinks I have the perfect life and am confident.....but I honestly hate my body and sometimes have no idea why boys have any interest in me at all.

dukan diet vs liquid diet?
Does anyone know which diet will help me to lose weight faster? the dukan diet or the liquid diet? I need to lose weight as fast as possible...and yes that is unhealthy I know. I've been on the dukan diet before for a week and it was ok (a little hard with just protein/ meat)...the amount of weight i lost was like 3 pounds in 1 week..which is all water weight...soo....=( I don't know which i should go on...Liquid or Dukan diet? Please don't tell me neither...I am exercising regularly and is taking a Pilates class. So its not just all diet. I know the risks, and how unhealthy it is...etc. etc.. Please help me pick which is better. Thank you

How much should I weight to look skinny?
Im 20 5'6 and weight 142 pounds. I dont feel fat but I don't feel skinny. How much should u weight to look skinny? I want to lose about 5-10 pounds but for some reason I don't lose weight easily. I eat decently and go to the gym about 4 times a week and do cardio. I also try to eat around 1500 calories. Im just tired of not feeling comfortable with my body. What other tips do you guys to lose these 10 pounds?? Thanks :)
