Besides WLS, are there other proven solutions to obesity? (Need citing references and no "just diet" answers)
For severe obesity, weight-loss surgery cannot be the only solution! Are there any other options? Are there any coaches out there who can help with weightloss, fitness, nutrition, re-training the family, re-training attitude and beliefs about food, etc.?
Added after the 1st two answers were pretty useless:
I too believe that it is about curbing the diet and excersing. I also believe that the body can get addicted to food. That is why I call it a disorder.
Once again, can someone provide PROVEN ways that has helped someone conquer this disorder by re-training the mind & habits, fitness, etc.?
As in the original question, PLEASE do not provide a "just diet" answer, and PLEASE provide citing references.
Thank you so much!!!

Morbid obesity, weight loss and itchiness...?
For anyone who is or was morbidly obese but lost a fair amount of weight, did you every get itchy for no apparent reason? My calves and my upper arms have been itchy and I wonder if it's related to weight loss, maybe the skin getting less tight? I don't have a rash, just itchy, and I've been moisturizing, so it shouldn't be dry skin.

The big deal with weight loss?
Why are so many women (and men) obsessed with weight loss and being fat? Half the people in the ads for those weight loss plans (from a guy's perspective particularly the women) didn't look that bad in their before pictures. So what's all the fuss about obesity? I think that if a woman (or man) is happy with her(/his) weight---and I have seen quite afew who are---and healthy, they shouldn't be concerned with the whole obesity weight loss thing. Society as a whole should be more accepting, so why aren't they?
For the record I weigh in at 195 LBs with clothes and shoes on, but I'm also about 6'3"
I refuse to state a preference for fat over thin women or vice versa for fear of odd or even scathing remarks.
Also that sort of thing draws the focus from the actual question.

Can I have something sent overseas to the US that is not FDA approved?
I'm wanting to ask a friend of mine from back home (overseas) to send something to me (USA) via FedEx.
The writing on the packaging is mostly in Chinese, there is a very short English description that claims it contains natural herbs and it's for obesity (weight loss in arms, hips, buttocks, etc.) That's it.
Would they go through the trouble of opening it and testing the pills?? Within what conditions would they confiscate them altogether??
I have no idea if this weight loss supplement has even been reviewed by the FDA, but I doubt it because it's made in China and is not sold here in the US.
This is something I've taken the past 2 years for weight loss and it's the only thing I know that works. I'd be devastated to have it sent here and not even come close to receiving it.. Help!
