Four months ago, I decided to lose weight. I now play sports or do exercise 3-4 times a week; I have cut back on sugar; I don't eat after 7:30pm; I'm following a more portion controlled diet with more fruits and vegetables. However I've only lost three pounds. What am I missing?

Weight loss/ Dieting tips?
Alright, so I've started on a diet and excersise program about a week ago to trim down for school in September. I've been running 4 miles a day and eating as little as possible (protien bar for breakfeast, bagel for lunch, and only 1 helping at dinner) I've also been running 2.5 miles a day, in addition to working out and bike riding. However, today I went to a restaruant and ate a chicken parm, pepperoni slice, and italian ice? Did I just kill my diet with that move? I biked about 15 miles today after and did some jumping rope so that should've burned it off but i'm not sure though. Any tips? Do you think I will be able to lose a considerable amount before school starts back up?
I am 5'8" and my weight is between the 170 and 180 range...way too much for my size ik, kinda embarassing.
